Karen's Chinese Cruise!!

This is the famous Goddess Peak. Look to the left side of the picture at the three humps like a camel. Then find the tiny thin figure next to them. This is the goddess. The story is that she went up to the top of the mountain to ask the gods to save the people from the yearly floods and was turned to stone as a sacrifice.

The young women from the crew doing a Spanish dance for the guests.

The massive Three Gorges Dam--1.4 miles in length, 185 meters in depth, and powered with 26 turbines. The biggest dam in the world!

There are two sets of locks. One is for the ships going up river and one for the ships going down, although they can both handle traffic from both directions. Can you believe all that concrete? Notice the landscaping between the locks. Every available space here in China is landscaped.
